2020 Theme: We'll Work Till Jesus Comes
Each year, at the Martinez church of Christ, we pick one concept that we believe could really transform our thinking and help us grow. This year we’re going to focus on looking forward to Christ’s return.
The Christians in the New Testament times lived in eager anticipation of Christ’s return. Unfortunately, many Christians today have lost that focus. Our lives here are either too comfortable or too busy for us to spend much time thinking about the life to come.
This year we want to rekindle that anticipation, that longing, and that sense of urgency that only comes from focusing on Christ’s return.
We’ve divided the year into 3 concepts:
From January through April, many of the sermons will focus on how we should live as servants entrusted with work that must be done before the master returns.
From May through August, many of the sermons will focus on the urgency of Christ’s return. We’re going to work on living every day with the knowledge that Christ could return tomorrow.
From September through December, many of the sermons will be about living on earth with our citizenship in heaven. As we pull free from the distractions of the world we’ll learn to live for eternity.
We hope you can join us for a year of looking forward to Christ!
Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. - 1 Peter 1:13
